I watched the Secretary of Defense1 give his address to US military brass today (2035-09-30). I was impressed with the discipline of the generals, as they absorbed insult after insult, from the most incompetent SECDEF2 in US history. Intermixed with his insults, were frequent references to God and other religious references, that do not belong in what should have been, a professional setting. As he spoke, I became increasingly concerned for the immediate future of our nation.
My initial reaction, as the animated Hegseth danced around the stage, was “oh shit!”, this guy is a crusader; a true believer in the religious nonsense that has been promulgated towards motivating ignorant people to fight and die for the wealthy, under the guise of righteousness, for thousands of generations. This struck me as a serious problem, because he was doing his routine, at the cost of millions of tax payer dollars, in front of the leadership of the most professional military force on the planet3. Every one of them has taken an oath, to defend the people of the United States and their constitution, not the dear leader, or God.
I haven’t seen the full video of Trump’s speech to the generals4, but I have seen a few short clips and some commentary. When added to the full clip of Hegseth’s speech, it is apparent to me, that the two of them are attempting to prime the generals and any other Americans, watching the clips, for a military crackdown on any dissenting speech, within US boarders, especially constitutionally protected protests, that are not aligned with their political and religious views. Both made overt threats to fire any of the generals, that do not fall inline with their illegal agenda. In fact, they overtly invited any of the them, that do not agree with them, to resign.
Putin must be proud of himself. He now has Trump, Vance, Hegseth, and the republican congress, throwing wrenches in the gears of democracy and US military supremacy. I wonder if VP Vance, realizes that Hegseth is running for the presidency in 2028? I wonder if Putin has a preference?
Just like Nazi Germany, in the 1930’s, the US is losing allies, making deals with dictators, and its leaders are overtly cloaking themselves in pseudo-christian garb. I wonder if the generals are starting to get the idea that “the enemy within”, are actually their bosses?
